Position Overview:

The Chief Program Integration Officer (CPIO) is responsible for overseeing all programmatic functions, ensuring they operate efficiently, align with grant requirements, and foster internal collaboration. This position provides leadership to program directors, supporting their capacity to execute initiatives, track impact, and drive innovation in service delivery.

As the key bridge between program teams, the CPIO ensures alignment between policy, research, and peer-led reentry services while strengthening grant compliance, operational workflows, and interdepartmental problem-solving.
 

Program Leadership & Supervision

  • Directly oversee the Director of TIPLR and Director of Policy & Research, ensuring cohesion between peer-led reentry services and advocacy efforts.
  • Lead regular cross-departmental meetings to foster collaboration and problem-solving between program teams.
  • Support directors in hiring, staff development, and internal capacity-building.
  • Address operational barriers and workflow issues, providing leadership that allows programs to function efficiently and scale strategically.

Grant & Program Management

  • Ensure all program activities meet grant deliverables, funder expectations, and compliance requirements.
  • Work with data & compliance teams to track key performance metrics and report on outcomes.
  • Oversee program budgets in collaboration with the Director of Finance to ensure fiscal alignment with grant funding.

Strategic Alignment & Innovation

  • Partner with the Chief Systems and Innovation Officer (CSIO) to integrate technology, storytelling, and external partnerships into program strategies.
  • Provide input on expanding TIPLR nationally, ensuring program models remain scalable and policy-driven.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring program directors are equipped to innovate and problem-solve internally.

External Engagement & Partnerships

  • Represent Nation Outside in meetings with funders, coalitions, and advocacy networks.
  • Work with program directors to strengthen collaborations with community-based organizations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Social Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in program management, nonprofit leadership, or systems integration.
  • Strong understanding of grant management, compliance, and nonprofit program structures.
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple teams, drive collaboration, and problem-solve across departments.
  • Experience in criminal justice policy, reentry services, and peer-led programming is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. 
  • Candidates must have consistent access to a reliable vehicle and have a valid drivers license.

Working Conditions: 

  • This is a hybrid position that will require frequent travel to the Detroit, Lansing, and Grand Rapids areas.  You must be willing to work in the office and remotely.
  • The position may also involve working outside standard 9 am-5 pm business hours.
